Barbecue boy fights drug abuse

A barbecue boy, has seen firsthand the harmful impact of illicit drugs on his peers.

This experience inspired Tubici Matavesi to use the Festival of the Friendly North platform to speak out against drug abuse.

Mr Matavesi said he chose to focus on illicit drugs because many young people around him are addicted to substances like methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana.

“I see that youth nowadays are addicted to illicit drugs, mainly methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana. So, I chose this topic to advocate about the effects these drugs can cause,” he said.

He said seeing his personal friends struggle with addiction motivated him to educate others.

He believes it is important to care for the youth since they represent the future.

He is one of the three king contestants vying for the Mr Vodafone Friendly North 2025 title .
