The Frank Hilton organisation launched its 7th Amazing Wheelbarrow race, called the Bara Battle Fundraiser, which will to be held at the end of next month.

The annual wheelbarrow race was first held in 2016 to help raise funds for disabled children under the care of the Frank Hilton organisation.

A total of 16 teams have registered for the event which will be held at Albert Park in Suva. Frank Hilton chief executive officer Sureni Perera said they were excited to host the event once more for the year 2023, and have introduced a virtual (online) race for those unable to participate physically.

“Anyone with a mobile phone in the world can participate. We already have 16 teams registered, and we are inviting additional teams to join and champion the cause for children living with disabilities,” she said.

Funds raised through the Amazing Wheelbarrow Race will be allocated to the operational costs of the Hilton home, the only care facility of its kind in Fiji which provides essential care to residents with severe disabilities and medical conditions.

“Additionally, the proceeds will support five vital departments within the Frank Hilton Organisation which is; audiology, speech therapy, physiotherapy, positive behaviors support, and community support.”

“As always, the target is set at raising $150,000 through the race, where every $10 a kilometre collected will help us reach this goal.”
