Banz sets new times

SPRINT king Banuve Tabakaucoro had a powerful performance at the Australian Athletic Championship over the weekend where he equalled the national 100 metres record and set a new one in the 200 metres.

In the 100m, Tabakaucoro clocked 10.26 seconds which is the record he set last year. In the 200m, he set a new time of 20.63s. He had earlier broken the record in the heats when he ran 20.94s. Tabakaucoro finished first in both the races.

Athletics Fiji president Joe Rodan said Tabakaucoro’s performance should motivate other athletes to lift their game.

“Banuve will win at least four gold medals in the Pacific Games with the 100m, 200m, 4x100m and 4x400m relays,” Rodan said.

“His record breaking performances is a witness to what the new athletic executives have put in place to ensure that the athletes and official are provided with the best facilities and are well equipped for the Pacific Games build up.

This performances by Banz will motivate the rest of the Fiji athletics team.”
