WESTPAC Fiji is celebrating the achievements of two emerging leaders, Antonio Basil, selected for the 2026 Leadership Fiji program, and Ellen Stolz, recognised as a Leadership Fiji Fellow, reflecting the bank’s long-standing commitment to backing local talent.
Westpac has sponsored 29 team members to take part in the Leadership Fiji program over the past 25 years, investing in the development of leaders who strengthen outcomes for customers, communities and Fiji’s future.
Leadership Fiji is designed to support emerging leaders to respond to the demands of an ever-changing world, while contributing to Fiji reaching its full potential as a nation. Through an immersive eight-month program, participants explore key national issues and build practical leadership capability, bringing new perspectives and stronger networks back into their workplaces and communities.
Westpac Fiji’s chief executive officer Shane Smith said the bank is proud to support Leadership Fiji because it builds the capability and confidence of local leaders.
“We’re delighted to congratulate Antonio and Ellen on these well-deserved milestones,” he said.
“When our people grow, our customers and communities benefit and we’ll continue to back our team members with development opportunities, coaching and the support they need to excel.”
As Leadership Fiji marks its 25-year anniversary, Westpac is recognising the many current and former employees who have taken part in the program and the experience they have brought back to the organisation.
Reflections from Westpac participants:
Antonio Basil (2026 Inductee): Quality Assurance compliance officer
“Attending the opening retreat as part of the Leadership Fiji 2026 program has enabled me to realise that everyone is different. It has also reminded me that leading depends entirely on a multitude of values but three stand out: Respect, Proactiveness and Integrity. As a member of Westpac’s Youth Network, I realise that leadership does not entirely rely on age but rather on maturity. I look forward to more developing as the course continues and I’m honoured to be the youngest participant in the program.”
Ellen Stolz (2024 Graduate): Corporate Affairs & Marketing specialist
“What a privilege to be part of the program and to now be a Leadership Fiji fellow. But more importantly, to learn the true meaning of leadership and to be given the opportunity to give back to my community and make a huge impact. I’m truly honoured.”
Patricia Naisara (2020 Graduate): head of People
“My journey with Leadership Fiji has been truly transformative. It was one of the best decisions I could have made, placing me in a cohort of exceptional leaders whose perspectives, courage, and commitment challenged me to grow. The experience didn’t just shape my career trajectory; it changed me as a person. I left the program with deeper purpose, lifelong connections, and a renewed commitment to lead and serve Fiji.”
