The Bank South Pacific Financial Group (BSP) has appointed Paul Black as the Group’s general manager for its Pacific market operations.

Mr Black is an experienced retail and corporate banking executive with more than 35 years of experience.

Prior to joining BSP Group in 2011, he spent more than 22 years at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia where he held various senior leadership roles.

He has held deputy general manager corporate banking since 2015 and over the past few years, has also supported the Pacific markets and led teams in Vanuatu and Cook Islands.

Mr Black also has specialist skills in corporate lending, credit risk mitigation, negotiation and is a strong people leader, the group stated.

He is also a member of FINSA and is presently completing his MBA with the Australian Institute of Business.

“Paul is an experienced leader, and like his BSP colleagues, deeply familiar with the South Pacific region in which we operate,” BSP Group chief executive officer Mark Robinson said in a statement.

Mr Black’s appointment is part of executive leadership changes – announced on Wednesday on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) and Port Moresby Exchange (PNGX) – earmarked to further support the bank’s modernisation for growth agenda.
