Thousands of Fiji Hindus would not have changed their religion if Guru Dhirendra Krishna Shastri had come to Fiji earlier, says the president of Vishwa Sanatan Sanstha of Fiji, Parveen Bala.
Mr Bala told about 8000 people at Prince Charles Park on Wednesday night, he was thankful to Guru Shastri for enlightening the Indian community here.
“After what you have preached to us and offered us through your discourses, I am now sure that those people who have been jumping from here to there, they will not be running anymore,” he said.
“If you had come earlier, then maybe those thousands of people who left their religion, without the full knowledge and believing in something else, would not have left their religion and joined another.
“If you had come earlier, that wouldn’t have happened.”
Mr Bala said what Guru Shastri had offered the people in the past few days was a better understanding of their faith.
“Guruji, you have shown our community the road towards unity and why one Hindu should stand up when another Hindu is being attacked, we will remember this all the time.
“This promise won’t be in vain.”
