High Court judge Justice Sunil Sharma has advised a woman and three men charged in relation to the alleged kidnapping of a 20-year-old woman in Saweni to file formal bail applications.

Artika Sharma, Ajay Kumar, Ravinal Ravinesh Anand, and Sanjay Kumar appeared in the High Court in Lautoka on Monday.

It is alleged that on the morning of February 25, the four forcefully removed the victim from her home following an argument.

The court heard that Ms Sharma allegedly forced the victim into her car, while the three men assaulted a relative of the victim who was trying to intervene.

The victim sustained injuries when she jumped out of the vehicle.

Ms Sharma is charged with one count of kidnapping, one count of damaging property, and one count of act with intent to cause grievous harm.

Ajay Kumar, Ravinal Ravinesh Anand, and Sanjay Kumar have each been charged with one count of kidnapping, one count of assault causing actual bodily harm, and one count of criminal intimidation.

Prosecutor Michelle Lomaloma sought time to file the information and disclosures for which Justice Sharma granted the State 14 days.

Filimoni Daveta represented Artika Sharma, Sanjay Kumar and Ajay Kumar, while Jitendra Reddy represented Ravinal Ravinesh Anand.

Justice Sharma urged the four to file formal bail applications and further remanded them in custody.

The bail matter has been adjourned to March 16.
