When Timoci Cauravou celebrated his 69th birthday, the event was captured in an article in The Fiji Times.

According to the January 2 1984 article, the birthday milestone gave the Cauravou family of Newtown, Nasinu, another reason to celebrate the New Year.

The special ceremony for the former member of the Fiji Police Band was held at his home with his six children and grandchildren. The ex-corporal who was in the band in the 1960s, was native of Lomanikoro, Bua, Vanua Levu, and had retired from the force after 35 years of service.

His family treated him to a lovo lunch and a birthday cake.

Wife Asinate said they had always looked forward to making him feel special each year and that year was no exception. Mr Cauravou said one of the most memorable moments in his career came when the police band toured New Zealand and Australia. He said he planned to spend his retirement at home and the occasional visit to his village in Bua.
