Fiji booked their ticket to the 2026 FIFA Under-17 Men’s World Cup in Qatar after defeating Papua New Guinea 1-0 in the OFC U16 Men’s Championship third-place playoff in Honiara, Solomon Islands yesterday.

The winner came in the first half when Ryan Achari, a constant threat on the right, collected a pass from Jack Raiyawa, skipped past two defenders, and finished clinically into the bottom corner.

Fiji’s defence, led by Koopah Singh and goalkeeper Kirikiti Biu, showed composure under pressure as Papua New Guinea pressed hard for an equaliser.

Substitute Zafir Ali added energy in attack, but Fiji focused on discipline and resilience.

Despite late pressure, the Baby Bula Boys stood tall, sealing victory and confirming their place on the world stage in Qatar.
