SOCIAL Democratic Liberal Party member and volunteer Jale Baba is paralysed and under medication.
This was made known to the Suva Magistrates Court this morning when his case was called before Magistrate Liyanage Wickramasekara.
Mr Baba who is charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) for one count of making a false statement was not present in court because of his medical condition.
It is alleged that Mr Baba between August 1, 2018 and October 15, 2018 in Suva, made false statements on social media by publishing a falsified voter lists and other false information related to the voter lists on Facebook which he knew to be false or had no reason to believe to be true.
Defence lawyer Filimoni Vosarogo requested for one month to enable him prepare and serve a medical report to the court and informed the prosecution of Mr Baba’s medical condition.
FICAC lawyer Francis Puleiwai did not object to this and the matter has been adjourned to March 29.
