The Ba Junior golf team clinched victory in the junior division of the Golf Fiji National Teams Championships held at the Lautoka Golf Club yesterday.
Competing against the Lautoka Junior team, Ba emerged victorious with a total of 414 points, led by team captain Damon Chen, Prakrit Naidu, Josua, and Jay Ram.
Chen was proud of his team’s performance.
“It was a good game, the weather was a bit rough but overall, we played good so as Lautoka, it’s been a tight game, but we managed to win it and I thank my team. This is probably my best score ever,” Chen said.
In other divisions, Team Suva claimed victory in the A-grade division with 291 points, Team Denarau/Natadola secured the B-grade title with 324 points, and Team Lautoka emerged triumphant in the C-grade category with 375 points.
A total of 70 golfers gathered at the Lautoka Golf Club for the highly-competitive event. Golf Fiji president Amitesh Chandra announced that Suva would host next year’s tournament on February 22, with Golf Fiji covering entry fees and providing lunch.
“This year’s event has cost Golf Fiji $4000 but we do not want clubs and golfers to dig in their pockets, but Golf Fiji will make it happen for you, we will come on board and support the club,” Chandra said.
