Ba school wins IDC

THE Courts Inter-District Championship is over and Kamil Muslim College of Ba were crowned secondary school winners after beating Saraswati College on penalty kicks.

But the losing finalist believe they had been served a raw deal and have complained to the Fiji Football Association.

The school claims Kamil Muslim College fielded an ineligible player in their team. Saraswati principal Wasu Deo confirmed writing a letter of complaint to the parent body.

“We’ve written a letter of complaint to Fiji FA and copied it to Fiji Secondary School Soccer Association,” he said.

“This is in regards to a Kamil Muslim College player who should not have played under the rules and guidelines of the association.

“We have been robbed of fair play. FIFA’s slogan is to play soccer and make peace but we have been cheated.”

Deo claimed the player concerned did not meet with the requirements to represent the team. If that player is a tertiary student then he needs to get a letter from the association confirming that he is allowed to play from a tertiary to secondary school team. But it was violated,” Deo claimed.

“A footballer has to be enrolled in a school for a minimum of 30 school days and requires a proper clearance from the previous institution. We are leaving the matter in the hands of the Fiji FA and FSSSA for them to make the fair judgement. We invested thousands of dollars in our team and it is every expensive affair and it is not funny.”

Kamil Muslim College principal Sabina Ali said they would let Fiji FA investigate. This newspaper approached Fiji FA chief executive officer Bob Kumar for an interview but he opted not to comment.
