Ba Rugby unveils busy 2026 season planner

Ba Rugby Union gears up for a busy and exciting 2026 season following the release of its official year planner.

The planner outlines a full calendar of competitions and activities, starting with the Ba Rugby Union Annual General Meeting on March 7, followed by development tournament for U14, U16, U18 to start on March 21 and final on May 2.

Also for the first time 4R Stadium at Govind Park in Ba to be hosting the first Super Rugby match between the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua and Brumbies on March 28.

Ba club games competitions to start on May 9 with eight matches and final is expected on July 18 before they prepare for the first round of Skipper Cup to kick off on July 25.

Ba Rugby secretary Gabby Kautoga said the union was looking forward to an exciting year ahead, with a strong focus on development.

“We are looking forward to an exciting year, especially with the programs we have planned for development,” Kautoga said.

A major highlight for Ba Rugby in 2026 is the establishment of an academy at Ba Methodist High School, aimed at developing schoolboys rugby and strengthening the pathway for young players in the district.

Kautoga said Ba Rugby is also working towards accrediting teachers with Level One and Level Two coaching qualifications, while ensuring local rugby clubs meet accreditation standards.

“This year we are focusing on development, from schools to clubs. We want our teachers and coaches to be properly accredited so they can help build the future of Ba Rugby,” he said.

Kautoga added that with the structured calendar and development focus in place, Ba Rugby is confident 2026 will be a positive year for the sport in the district.

“It will be an exciting year for Ba Rugby,” he added.
