PART of Ba Rugby Union’s development plan is to upskill the coaches, referees, medics, and S&Cs throughout the province.
BRU secretary pastor Gaby Katoga said, “It’s a big area to cover”.
“After COVID, we were really starting from scratch last year, and the clubs are located so far apart so there are logistic and cost elements to consider when trying to hold clinics.”
“The Fiji Rugby Union has been assisting where they can, but they too are limited in the development budget.
“We have had seven days of clinics in 2024, and now we need to contribute more of the costs.”
On Monday and Tuesday this coming week, BRU and the FRU will conduct level two men’s head coaches in the eight tikina.
“We see everything developing through the tikina,” Kautoga said.
“If we can get the eight head coaches from the Ba Industries Cup up to level two, they can take that knowledge back to their tikina and share it with the women’s and under-19 coaches as well as the clubs. That’s the pathway for our coaches and other team management.”
If all goes well, Ba rugby hopes to guide these coaches to level three in 2025 while the other promising coaches in each tikina start their level two.
