IT was an emotional moment for Ba Rugby head coach Ben Tora as he reflected on his team’s Skipper Cup journey after their quarter-final loss to Naitasiri at Lawaqa Park last Saturday.

Even in defeat, Tora’s message was one of hope and faith.

“Loss is the beginning of better things in the future.

“Despite the result, I’m proud of my boys. This is a tremendous young team, and we thank God for being with us throughout the season,” Tora said.

The Ba mentor said the season had been one of growth and learning, with many new faces stepping up.

“I think we are the only team that included five debutants in every game. Most of our players are new, but they played with heart and passion. That’s something we can build on.”

Tora also took time to acknowledge the people who stood behind the team.

“We want to thank our supporters Vinod Patel, Ba Industries Ltd our president Daksesh Patel, and all our sponsors including Island Pharmacy, New World IGA, and Fiji Pine.

“We also acknowledge all our villages and supporters from the eight tikina (districts) we represent, from the highlands to the coast.”

He said Ba’s young squad has shown that the future is bright.

“We are grateful to a champion side like Naitasiri for giving us this experience. We’ve learned a lot, and we’ll come back stronger. This is only the beginning of better things for Ba Rugby.”

Meanwhile Fiji Pine Ba U20 prepares to take on Nadi U20 in the first U20 semi-final at 11am at Bidesi Park.
