The Ba golf team stamped their authority in the A-grade division of the Theodore Cup, which was held at the Nadi Airport Golf Club last Sunday, securing a convincing win over other western teams.

Led by seasoned players Asish Chand, Rohit Chandra, Rajen Singh, Raven Kumar, Jyoti Lal and Ashwin Singh, Ba recorded a total of 134 points, comfortably ahead of runners-up Denarau with 116. Lautoka placed third with 112 while hosts Nadi settled for 96.

In the B-grade category, Lautoka bounced back strongly to claim the top spot with 97 points. Ba followed with 87, and Nadi managed 63.

Ba again showcased their depth in the C-grade division, securing another win with 68 points. Nadi finished second on 60 while Lautoka trailed behind with 47.

Golf Fiji president Amitesh Chandra commended the level of competition and camaraderie among the teams.

“The Theodore Cup continues to be a strong platform for western clubs to unite and raise the standard of competitive golf. The performance from all divisions, especially Ba’s A-grade team, was very encouraging,” Chandra said.

Golf Fiji Event Controller Rohit Chandra echoed the president’s sentiments and praised the efforts of participating clubs and the host.

He also confirmed that close to $4,000 was invested by Golf Fiji to stage the event.

“It was money well spent. The unity among western clubs was evident and it made the event a huge success.”

The Theodore Cup also served as a selection ground for the West team that will face the East in the highly anticipated Annual East vs West Challenge scheduled to take place later this year at the Ba Golf Club.
