DESPITE the 3-0 loss to Ba, Dreketi coach Johan Leewai was happy with his teams performance.
Dreketi held Ba 1-0 at half time.
The fancy foot skills by Dreketi’s Ashneel Raju wowed the crowd as he often broke through Ba’s defence during their Vodafone Premiere League match at Subrail Park in Labasa.
Leewai believes his boys played well.
“They had a lot of opportunities to score but Ba played well too so they gave our boys a good game,” he said.
“The first half went well for my team because they kept the scores at 1-0 against an experienced side.”
Ba opened the match with Samuela Kautoga’s goal, 10 minutes before the end of the first half to lead 1-0 at half time. Avinesh Swami rewarded his team with the second goal, 22minutes into the second half.
The experienced Osea Vakatalesau sealed the match with their third goal to win 3-0.
Ba coach Imdad Ali said Dreketi tested the strength of his boys.
“Dreketi is a good team and I never take any teams lightly so I prepare my boys very well,” he said.
“But I am happy that the boys played well and won this match against Dreketi.
In the other match, Labasa lost to Nadi 2-1.
Nadi coach Joseph Nand thanked his boys for playing their best.
“We discussed our game against Labasa and we had to apply pressure in order to win and we did just that,” he said.
“Labasa is a fast team so we applied pressure to distract them.”
Labasa manager Ravi Chand described the team’s performance in the match as a good effort considering they have had no coach.
