The Ba Rugby Union successfully concluded its level two coaching course in Ba yesterday.

About 11 representatives participated, including eight coaches from various tikina and three women.

The course aims to raise the coaching standards across all tikina, with plans to ensure that every tikina coach holds a level two certification by next year.

Ba Rugby Union secretary Pastor Gabby Kautoga stressed the importance of the initiative.

“This is part of our club pathway towards the tikina right to the provincial level. The course serves as a stepping stone for coaches to progress within the rugby development structure and prepare their teams for higher levels of competition,” Kautoga said.

The Tiliva/ Bukuya girls’ teams volunteered to assist in the practical assessments during the course, providing an opportunity for the coaches to be monitored and evaluated. Kautoga said the coaches would continue to be assessed, and, by December, they are expected to receive their certificates.

“We hope to recognise them during our awards night in December,” he said.

The initiative highlights the Ba Rugby Union’s commitment to building a strong coaching foundation to support the region’s growing rugby talent.
