Former Republic of Fiji Military Forces deputy commander Brigadier General Aziz Mohammed remains tight-lipped on whether he has plans to contest the general election.

Brig-Gen Mohammed only responded “Thank you”, when queried on the issue during an interview with this newspaper.

He was approached for comment on the issue during International Women’s Day celebrations at the University of Fiji’s Samabula campus in Suva on Tuesday.

In the buildup to the election, Brig-Gen Mohammed said the RFMF was aware of its role should any situation arise.

“The RFMF Commander Major General Jone Kalouniwai has his own strategic plans and his own blueprint of how to address an issue if a situation arises,” he said.

He joined the university as a professor of law last December after serving in the RFMF for 35 years.

On the issue of International Women’s Day, he said there were not enough women in leadership roles.
