Schools can hold annual awards ceremonies this year.

Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Rosy Akbar said the ceremonies had always been an important event on the school calendar as they recognised students’ contributions for a variety of achievements.

She said an earlier advice to schools not to conduct these awards was a precautionary COVID-19 safety measure and has been reviewed.

Parents or guardians only could be invited to the events, keeping within the considerations of the COVID-19 safety measures currently in place.

She said heads of schools had been asked to keep the event simple and focus on children’s achievements and ensure there was no disruption for Years 12 and 13 students.
