When asked what success would look like for future rounds of the OFC Pro League, Extra Bula FC head coach Stéphane Auvray pointed to continued improvement rather than just results.
“That we finish the round and we can all say there was even more growth in this team. If there is growth at the end of the three games, that will be a successful round.”
He also highlighted the need for balance between attacking output and overall performance levels.
“We finished the last circuit scoring five goals but didn’t play so well. So if we can have a good balance between both, that would be a good sign of growth.”
On individual players, Auvray singled out the importance of discipline and attitude, noting that training standards and behaviour off the pitch will influence selection.
Auvray confirmed minor injury concerns in the squad but remains hopeful key players will be available.
“We have one or two important players with issues. They are working with the physios, so let’s hope for the best.”
On discipline within the squad, the coach said standards have been well established since his arrival.
“It’s very good. Once you set expectations clearly and there are consequences, things become very easy. This is something we never had to worry about.”
With home support expected tomorrow night, Auvray delivered a final message to fans.
“Please come support us. Expect maximum effort from us. Keep supporting us whether we are leading or not. We need the fans to push us. We will do our best, please do your best as well.”
