NABUA Broncos’ duo Saimoni Buinimasi and Tuwame Turaganivalu are in Australia after leaving Fiji last week on a two-year contract with Bombala Blue Heelers — a feeder club to the Canberra Raiders in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition.
Playing in the Group 16 First Grade, the two utilities will form a formidable combination.
Turaganivalu, a Fiji Bati rep, played for the team during last year’s Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea with Buinimasi, a former national representative in the same code.
According to Buinimasi, upon arriving last week, they played their first game last weekend against Bega Roosters and said they were still trying to settle with their new club.
“We arrived here on Tuesday and on the weekend, we played our first game,” he said.
The Bombala Times reported, the club were looking energised by the injection of the two new Fijian teammates.
“Fijian duo Turaganivalu (or ‘Warmi’) and Buinimasi (or ‘Sam’) proved lethal in defence putting hits on the Bega boys that could be almost felt by the crowd,” the report said.
The report further stated: “Not to be outdone in attack, their ability to make metres and offer classy off-loads was an asset to the team and provides exciting prospects for future games to come.”
