Legendary rugby sevens maestro Waisale Serevi was hospitalised in India on Fiji Day last week.

Serevi, who is currently the head coach of the Indian sevens team, was admitted to Manipal Hospitals with chest pain and later diagnosed with an unstable angina.

This, according to a statement by the hospital, which was released by Rugby India on its Facebook page on Sunday night.

The post also included a picture of Serevi, who posed with a smile and a thumbs up, as the statement added a coronary angiogram had shown he had minor coronary artery disease.

Minor coronary artery disease is a less severe blockage of the heart’s arteries because of a buildup of fatty deposits on the artery walls, restricting the flow of blood to the heart.

While those with the disease may not exhibit many symptoms, it can heighten the chances of cardiac issues over time.

Despite this, the statement noted he was in stable condition and would be shifted from intensive care as of yesterday.
