FOR the Extra Supermarket Rewa FC team, capitalising on their 3-0 win over Labasa FC last week is of the essence when they face the Babasiga Lions once again this afternoon.
Head coach Rodicks Singh was approached by this newspaper during a training session at Manoca, Nausori and he shared what areas the team sought to improve on in reflection of their performance in Labasa last week.
“There are things that we have rectified that we need to improve on and there are things we have done well which we will need to repeat,” Singh remarked.
“We’re trying to work more on the finishing part. We could have finished the game well against Labasa. Yes, we scored three goals but it could have been more and that’s the area we are fine tuning.”
In ensuring the team makes amends in areas needed or enhance their grip on, Singh acknowledged the significance of their clash with Labasa.
“It’s a super important game for us and we are really preparing well and trying to correct ourselves in making sure that we are ready for the tough battle against Labasa on Sunday (today).”
To equip themselves with the necessary tools and mindset, it also means employing the skills of new players coming into the squad such as Mosese Nabose.
“We’ll get to see Mosese Nabose who has joined us from Naitasiri. He might feature for the Rewa side which he didn’t in the first game so that’s one new inclusion for us,” Singh mentioned.
Meanwhile, it may be an away game for Labasa but the side will not lack support of fans.
Northerners, now residing in the central division, are expected to turn up in numbers today, in a hope of a tremendous comeback from its team.
Labasa last won the title in 2021 while Rewa’s only CvC win was 15 years back in 2010.
The match kicks off at 3pm at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
