The first leg of the Fiji Rugby Fun Flavour Super 7s Series and the Veiyasana Provider 7s tournament scheduled to take place this weekend have been postponed.

The FRU confirmed this in a statement this afternoon after meeting with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Fiji National Sports Commission, with guidance from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.

A statement from the FRU stated that while they were prepared to host both Sevens tournaments in accordance with the strict COVID 19 protocols, the main concern was the welfare and safety of everyone involved in view of the recent increase in new COVID-19 cases.

“We will await new guidelines from the Ministry of Health & Medical Services and Ministry of Youth and Sports before we confirm new tournament dates,” FRU chief executive officer John O’Connor said.
