The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland has a new High Commissioner to Fiji.

The new envoy, Dr Brian James Jones, presented his credentials to Fijian President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, at the State House in Suva yesterday.

According to the Government, Dr Jones has a colourful career in foreign diplomacy, dating back to 2004 when he was appointed Bosnia Desk Officer, Western Balkans Group in the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 2003.

In 2005, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Crisis Management Team, Consular Directorate under the Foreign and Commonwealth Office; and in 2019 posted to the Solomon Islands as British High Commissioner and Non-Resident British High Commissioner to Nauru, the post he held prior to his posting to Fiji.
