As Fiji’s capital Suva counts down to the much anticipated Super Rugby Pacific match between Fijian Drua and the visiting Highlanders this afternoon, Police are strongly advising people to prioritise safety before they leave home for the games.

For their safety, police have advised that homeowners lock up their properties well, and to carry out a few checks to ensure it was secure before leaving for the ANZ Stadium match venue.

High vehicle and foot traffic are anticipated today and police assured members of the public of high presence and visibility.

Police have advised members of the public, particularly those headed for the games to:

• travel early because there will be a lot of traffic
• have your vaccination card on you along with a valid ID
• carry an umbrella because the weather is uncertain
• don’t carry excessive cash
• reconsider bringing your children because of the weather

“Police officers and volunteers will be around to assist. Have fun, cheer, laugh and enjoy responsibly,” Police said.

“As a ‘Drua nation’, let’s work together to make this historic match a success.”

The Fijian Drua plays the Highlanders at 4.35pm today, after the curtain raiser between unbeaten Namosi and Suva in the ANZ Marama Championship.
