A Korowaqa farmer in Rakiraki is believed to be the latest road fatality after the vehicle he was driving was involved in a motor vehicle accident near Malake yesterday afternoon.
Police said the 64-year-old victim allegedly lost control of his vehicle causing it to veer onto the opposite laneĀ resulting in a head-on collision with another vehicle driven by a 35-year-old man travelling with his 32-year-old wife.
Both sustained injuries and are admitted at the Rakiraki Hospital.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted to ascertain cause of death as investigations continue.
The national road death toll stands at 1 compared to 0 for the same period last year.
With more rain expected in the next few days, Police are urging motorists to drive carefully and to be vigilant.
