Team flight

TEAM Fiji will travel to and from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil aboard Air New Zealand.

Chef de mission Cathy Wong chose not to offer any reason on why the team were not flying the national airline, Fiji Airways.

However, she did indicate that this was one of their challenges in their preparation for the 2016 Olympic Games which they had resolved.

Bottled water

THE 88-member Team Fiji contingent, which includes both athletes and officials, will drink only bottled water.

The tap water in Rio is undrinkable, says Team Fiji chef de mission Cathy Wong.

Food festival

FOR those who have been to the Olympics, they know this is a food festival as well.

But for our 53 athletes, particularly, they have been prepared well in advance about what they can and what they cannot eat, what they should and should not eat, the type of meals to consume before competition, during and after.

And their coaches and managers will work very closely with them to monitor those events.

And chef de mission Cathy Wong says the team is small so it should be easy to monitor and manage.

Fiji contingent

THE Team Fiji contingent is presently sitting at 88 – 53 athletes and 35 officials.

Chef de mission Cathy Wong says this is unlikely to change.

She said there will be other delegations, such as Government which they hope will include Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, also include FASANOC executives, and sponsors Vodafone Fiji, BLK and JR White.
