Update: 3:15PM FORMER Fiji Police officers residing in the Eastern Division were hosted to a talanoa session as their assistance was sought by the police unit in the division to fight against crime.
Divisional Police Commander East Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Maretino Qiolevu and his senior officers met their former colleagues as they work on forging a new working relationship with the former officers through the Duavata Community Policing initiative.
“We want to engage with you because of your experience as you have already done the hard yards, you’ve been through the mill, you are well versed with the community in the Eastern Division and we believe this would help the current serving officers,” SSP Qiolevu said.
Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho had said that he was trying to encourage more interactions with former police officers.
The meeting was held at the Nausori Catholic Parish Hall yesterday.
