Update: 2:35PM A 5.0 MAGNITUDE earthquake was recorded in the Fiji region early this morning.

The moderate earthquake occurred at a depth of 560km.

The Seismology Unit of the Mineral Resources department reported the earthquake was located 181km South-southwest from Matokana Village, Ono-i-Lau; 430km South-southeast from Vunisea, Kadavu; and 493km South-southeast from Suva.

The Unit has cleared any immediate threat to the region.
