Fijian Police have charged a 16-year-old student with one count of rape.

The accused is alleged to have raped a Year 9 student on January 26, 2020.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the victim was allegedly threatened to keep the matter quiet.

“The matter came to light when the victim contacted the Child Help line last month and was referred to the Korovou Police Station for investigation,” Ms Naisoro said.

The teenager will be produced at the Korovou Magistrates Court today.
