A 21-year-old student is believed to be Fiji’s latest drowning victim.
Police reports the victim was swimming with another student near Matata Settlement in Lami yesterday when he failed to surface, and was found motionless under water.
“Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful and he was conveyed to the Lami Health Center where he was pronounced dead,” Police said.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.
The national drowning death toll stands at six compared to one for the same period last year.
