A total of 9069 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine have been administered since Monday, May 24, 2021.

These include 7121 first doses administered in the Suva-Nausori containment zone, and 1948 second doses for frontline workers across Fiji.

According to the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, two doses – spaced 10-12 weeks apart – are necessary to get the full protective effect of the vaccine.

The ministry stated that as of May 25, a total of 107,014 people have received the first dose of the vaccine in Fiji – and represents 16.5 per cent of the targeted population of 650,000 individuals.

It also stated that 2913 individuals were now fully vaccinated.

The vaccination campaign restarted on Monday and mobile vaccination teams were now targeting communities in the Suva-Nausori containment zone.
