The Water Authority of Fiji was forced to close down its Nabouwalu intake in Bua on Vanua Levu yesterday after recent downpours caused flooding, resulting in a high level of turbidity, making water unsafe for drinking.
The closure caused supply disruptions to residents and villagers in and around the greater Nabouwalu areas, including:
- Bua Provincial Quarters
- Naulumatua House
- Namulomulo
- Wainisevu
- Raviravi
- Namau
- Qereqerekabulu
- Nanuku
- Wairiki Mill
- Navave Village
- Vunirara
- Vuniqaqa
Residents and villagers are advised that they be experiencing water supply disruptions until further notice.
They are also advised that water carting trucks are on standby to service the affected areas during this temporary disruption period.
