A man has been charged with 20 counts of rape allegedly committed on his step-daughter on several occasions between 2017 and 2018.

Fijian Police said the teenager who was 11 years old at that time reported the matter at the Lautoka Police Station last month.

Police alleged the man – in his late 40s – started committing the offences on occasions when her mother was out of the house.

“The victim informed a relative of the alleged incidents last month whereby a report was lodged,” Police said.

The man will be produced at the Lautoka Magistrates Court.
