Fiji has reported 32 new cases of positive COVID-19 infections since the last update on Friday, November 12.

Health Ministry permanent secretary Dr James Fong said seven of those new cases were recorded on November 13, five recorded on November 14, and 20 recorded on November 15.

Overall for this second wave, there have been 52,359 cases recorded, with 71 per cent of the cases from the Central Division, 28 per cent of the cases from the Western Division, and 1 per cent from the Eastern and Northern divisions.

Dr Fong also reported 14 COVID-19 deaths that were recorded between August 6 and September 19 (2021).

All deaths were reported from the Western Division, and the deceased individuals were aged between 46 to 84 years old, and all were not vaccinated.

The PS said six of those individuals died at home or on their way to the hospital.

There have been 694 deaths due to COVID-19 in Fiji, with 692 of those deaths recorded during the outbreak that started in April this year, he said.

The Ministry of Health has also recorded 588 COVID-19 positive patients who died from serious medical conditions they had before they contracted COVID-19 – these deaths are not classified as COVID-19 deaths.
