Vaccination program for children deferred

The vaccination program for children has been deferred to Monday, October 4 (2021).

Ministry of Health permanent secretary Dr James Fong said the ministry would defer the scheduled vaccinations for those below 18 years by a week to synchronise the vaccination deployment effort with the digital platform support.

During this period, he said the vaccine information for Fijians in that age category who had received the first dose would be manually entered in the digital registry for ease of access to vaccine authentication.

“The vaccination program for Fijians below the age of 18 is progressing well, with 17,900 children vaccinated to date,” Dr Fong said.

“The Ministry of Health adverse events reporting system has recorded zero reports of concern among vaccinated children in Fiji,” he said.
