The Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources has appointed six new members to the Surveyors Registration Board.
The appointment will ensure balanced representation – two government members and three from the private sector – to strengthen the board’s capacity to guide the profession and support national development.
The newly-appointed board members are:
– Asakaia Tabua – chairperson/registrar
– Rod Jepsen – member
– Mike Lenz – member
– Paserio Samisoni – member
– William Robert – member, and
– principal surveyor Avitereki Tukuwasa – board secretary.
According to the ministry, the Surveyors Registration Board plays a key role in:
- registering qualified and competent surveyors
- promoting professionalism and ethical standards
- ensuring accountability and transparency, handling public complaints fairly, and
- raising awareness of professional responsibilities, and maintaining public trust through quality and integrity.
Mr Tabua acknowledged the work of the outgoing board members for their service over the past two years.
“During their tenure, the board demonstrated exemplary leadership in safeguarding the integrity and professionalism of the surveying profession in Fiji,” Mr Tabua said in a statement from the ministry.
“Their commitment to upholding standards, resolving complaints fairly, and engaging openly with registered surveyors significantly strengthened public confidence.”
Mr Tabua also highlighted the board’s success in promoting ethical conduct and professional responsibility, helping build a more accountable, trusted and future-ready surveying sector for Fiji.
He said the board looked forward to working closely with all stakeholders to improve service delivery, build public trust, and ensure the surveying profession continued to meet the evolving needs of communities and the economy.
The new board members will serve for a two-year term effective from July 5.
