Thirteen juveniles and six police officers are among the 79 people charged with a total of 72 counts of separate incidents in November this year.

This was revealed by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions as it released statistics on incidents of serious crimes recorded for November.

According to the DPP, the offences were murder (2), aggravated robbery (20), attempted aggravated robbery (1), robbery (2), aggravated burglary (12), burglary (1), theft (14), assault causing grievous bodily harm (2), act with intent to cause grievous harm (1), assault (2), unlawful wounding (1), unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs (1), unlawful possession of illicit drugs (2), careless driving (5), criminal intimidation (5) and damaging property (1).

The DPP stated that the juveniles were charged with aggravated robbery, robbery, aggravated burglary, theft, and damaging property.

“Of the 13 juveniles, one 17-year-old boy was charged with the murder of a 60-year-old taxi driver. The accused was also charged with robbery. The accused allegedly strangled the victim and stole $15 cash and a mobile phone,” the DPP stated.

“Of the six police officers, five were charged with one count each of careless driving.

“A 45-year-old police officer was charged with one count of criminal intimidation. The accused allegedly threatened his 36-year-old de facto partner with a cane knife.”
