Fiji Bitter Wairiki Sevens Carnival: Spectators and players should be fully vaccinated

Spectators and players participating at next week’s Fiji Bitter Wairiki Sevens Carnival in Taveuni will need to be fully vaccinated.

Those who are not fully vaccinated will not be allowed into the grounds at Wairiki to watch the games and players will not participate in any games.

Organising committee coordinator Ioane Gade said they had been working closely with health officials in ensuring that everyone at the grounds adhered to the COVID-19 protocol.

“All those attending will need to show their ID and vaccination cards at the gate,” he said.

“The vaccination cards need to record a double dose otherwise they would not be allowed and this same rule has been made known to the teams. Our officials will be at the gate to check all ID and vaccination cards and everyone need to wear their mask.”

Gade said security measures with the police had also been finalised.

“Every year the police have provided good security measures at the grounds and that will happen again this year so we are blessed to have their support,” he said.

“The teams travelling from Viti Levu will arrive on Tuesday and everyone will be briefed about the various measures put in place.”

A total of 150 teams will participate in the three sports of rugby, netball and volleyball.
