Host records draw in first match

Host Nadroga started its 2022 Digicel Fiji FACT campaign with a 1-all draw against Tailevu Naitasiri at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka last night.

The Stallions were on a bye in the first round and came out of the blocks strongly in front of its home fans. Zoeb Rahim, 18, opened the scoring for Nadroga with a neat finish in the ninth minute.

The Fiji National University student was all tears after scoring his first goal for Nadroga. Tailevu Naitasiri slowly picked up momentum and applied some pressure of their own on the Nadroga goal.

Mohammed Naizal eventually found the equalizer with a powerful drive in the 31st minute of play.

The teams rested tied 1-all at halftime.

Both coaches made tactical changes in the second spell with a hope to find their second goal. Despite, numerous opportunities, both teams failed to find the goal to secure all three points.

The draw sees Tailevu Naitasiri now on four points after two matches while Nadroga has one point after one match.

In matches today, T/Naitasiri plays Suva at 12pm while Nadroga battles Ba in the feature match at 6.30pm. Suva is the defending Fiji FACT champion.
