A first half masterclass was enough for the Fiji men’s 7s side to beat Wales 38-24 in its last pool match at the Commonwealth Games in England.
Fiji scored four tries in the first spell to lead 26-7 at halftime.
The Ben Gollings coached side added another two in the second spell to stop a surgent comeback from the Wales side which cored three of their own tries in the second half.
Fiji will now play Scotland in the first quarter-final at 7.26am today.
In other quarter-finals, South Africa plays Canada at 7.48am, New Zealand takes on Kenya at 8.10am while Australia battles Samoa at 8.32am.
