Veteran boxer Joseph Kwadjo returned to the boxing ring in style with a technical knockout (TKO) win over Apisai Naciqa in the main bout of the Lewis-Hill Boxing Promotion at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva on Saturday evening.
Naciqa looked the better of the two fighters early, using his height and reach advantage to land a few good punches on Kwadjo in the cruiserweight division bout.
The Ghanaian boxer slowly found his rhythm and had the upper edge by the end of the first round. Naciqa was saved by the bell at the end of the first round as the fans who turned up to witness the promotion had a fair idea of what could be expected in the second round.
Kwadjo began the second round just like he ended the first and the referee had no option but to stop the bout in round 2.
Promoter Winston Hill made a memorable professiobal boxing debut, stopping Ratu Rakuro Daunivavana in the second round.
In other bouts, Muhammad Ali defeated Saimoni Nanovu, in a second round TKO, Nikesh Prasad beat Shrefazud Dean on points in the light heavyweight division.
In the Super lightweight, Gabrieli Ravalawa knocked out Benjamin Joseph in the fourth round. Jese Ravudi made work look easy for him, knocking out Mikaele Gonerara while Vanuatu national Masing Warawara defeated veteran boxer Farzan Ali on split points decision in the lightweight division.
