The Southland Dominion Brothers side is looking to go one better from its finals finish they achieved at the last Coral Coast tournament in 2020.
The Suva-based side was beaten 15-10 by Tuva Youth in the Youth final three years ago, the last time this tournament took place.
Led by 2022 Super Deans winning captain Benjamin Naivalu, the side beat SRS Nukuvura Youth 24-5 in its opening match.
Team manager Josua Bola said the team had been slowly adjusting to conditions at Lawaqa Park.
“We have some players from the Northern Division with us while others are Suva based. The heat here (at Lawaqa Park) is quite high and our players are slowly adjusting to it,” Bola said.
He said the heartbreaking loss of 2020 had not been forgotten and the players had set their sights on the title this year.
“We have won a few tournaments after that but the Coral Coast is the one we want. We fell short the last time and we are hopeful we will go one step further this time.”
Meanwhile, defending champions Tuva had the worse of starts going down to Blessed Provision Natabua Beez 5-nil.
