Namosi backs current Fiji Rugby board

The Namosi Rugby Union has faith in the current Fiji Rugby Union management and its board members.

President Manoa Puamau said while they respected the views of some other unions, the Namosi Rugby Union had full confidence in the current board.

“We have done our AGM. We discussed the board of FRU. We came up that they believe the current board is doing well,” Puamau said.

“We don’t base our decision on rumours, but we base our decisions on results.”

Puamau added the Namosi Rugby Union is looking at the bigger picture.

“The formation of the Drua team, the Fijiana Drua. This is the work of the previous boards.

“The performance of our Flying Fijians and the results they have produced.

“We noticed that right now we have the Rugby World Cup and the Olympics titles. Twice winning the Olympics is a big achievement for all Fijians.”

Puamau confirmed his union will fill in nominations for the three vacant directorship positions.

Meanwhile, the NRU begins its season with a 10s tournament.

Puamau said more than 15 teams would be taking part in the tournament at Navua’s Thomson Park today.
