Fiji National Rugby League head coach Wise Kativerata said women’s rugby league is heading in the right direction.
Kativerata was at the semi-finals of the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Vodafone Trophy girl’s competition and said was pleased with what he has seen so far.
“I think we have got a bright future for women’s rugby league. From what I saw today(yesterday) is just amazing,” Kativerata said.
“The girls have done really well. If we are looking at the long term, I think the future is really bright. I already seen the capabilities of a few of them playing in the NRL.”
The national coach had been helping out teams such as Nasikawa Vision, Wainimala Secondary and Ballentine Memorial School in training.
“We are here to help the girls play in the next level. I can see the development is going very well. The best thing about developing in Fiji is that the players are willing to learn.”
In the semi-finals at Ratu Cakobau Park Ground 2 yesterday, Namosi Titans edged Naitasiri Warriors 10-4 while Lomaivuna Raiders hammered Nasikawa Raiders 16-4.
The girl’s division final between Namosi Titans and Lomaivuna Raiders will be held on May 6.
