Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s coach Saiasi Fuli says more work needs to be done to prepare his side to handle tough situations during matches on the World SVNS Series.
Fuli was speaking after the 33-7 loss to France in the cup quarterfinal of the Hong Kong 7s on Saturday night.
“Preparation was good but it comes to those tough moments. You need to be smart, you need to be hard and be mentally strong to control the ball,” Fuli said.
“They(USA) shut us down and we gave away possession so easily.”
Fuli also had concerns with how the side defended in the disappointing loss.
“Our defensive shape was not really organized but it was what it is and we have to go and come back in the next playoff.”
He said a lot of work would be needed before the next tournament in Singapore.
“It’s back to the drawing boards. We need to have mental sessions with them, do a lot of work with individuals, put them into tough situations where they can handle these tough situations and try to find solutions to these situations with them.
“For tough moments, we need tough people to stand up and play in that type of environment.”
The Fijiana side returns today.
