Gokals team to beat in business house futsal

GOKALS is the team to beat in the Ovaltine Suva Business House Futsal League after five rounds of competition.

As the tournament entered into the first phase of round five after nine successful weeks of games, Gokals is the only undefeated team.

Tournament organiser Alan Kumar of Bula Events Group said first-time entrant Motibhai Group would have also been an unbeaten team after four pool games if the side had not lost the protest against Carpenters Finance.

“A small oversight cost Motibhai Group three important points or else they would have also shared the four back-to-back wins in the series together with Gokals,” Kumar said.

“We have successfully completed the home leg of pool games at the National Hockey Centre in Laucala Bay whereby each team has played three respective games from the eight different pools that we have this year.

“While the venue remains the same, we have executed the pool matches on a home and away basis to keep things simple.”

With 32 teams participating in this year’s Ovaltine Suva Business House Futsal Soccer League, each round of games is played in two phases whereby 16 teams participate in each phase over a period of two weeks.

“While we have completed three rounds of games over a period of six weeks, the first phase of round four of pool games which was scheduled for Tuesday, March 26, had to be called off due to extreme weather conditions in the capital city,” Kumar said.
