Woman tells court: I hid money in bra

THE 19-year-old young woman testifying in a case of domestic trafficking and sexual servitude told the High Court in Suva today that she hid money in her bra so the accused person would not take all she had earned from clients.

The prosecution witness, who took the stand yesterday in the case of Josevata Werelagi, the court has heard was only 15-years-old during the time of the alleged incident back in 2015.

Today, she relived those memories and broke down in court.

The teenager told the court the accused was happy when she used to bring her money, which she would be given by the clients.

She added she did that because she was threatened by the accused to do so.

The witness said the accused had warned her of his many transgender friends who would assault her if she did not do what she was told.

Werelagi is charged with one count of aggravated sexual servitude and three counts of domestic trafficking in children.

It is alleged that Werelagi had – by use of threats or force – caused the then-15-year-old girl to enter into or remain in sexual servitude, with intent or remain in sexual servitude and shall be employed or used for the purpose of prostitution.

The trial continues at the High Court in Suva.
